This magnificent grey and red sandstone, Gothic style town hall, with its tower and spire rising to a height of 160ft was completed in 1869.
Chester Town Hall was opened on 15th October 1869 by the Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VII.
The building still retains its Victorian magnificence and is a prestigious venue available for public hire.
The town hall is much regarded as the symbolic expression of civic government, having changed very little in external appearance since its completion in 1869.
The town hall is currently being refurbished and it is expected to be completed mid spring 2010.
