Named after the year that horse racing first began in Chester, this fabulous glass-fronted eatery has magnificent panoramic views across the racecourse, creating a perfect setting in which to enjoy contemporary British cooking with a focus on regional and local suppliers.
Working with local and regional producers to bring you dishes incorporating Vale of Clwyd beef, Goosnargh chicken and duck, morning fresh vegetables from Cheshire farms and herbs from their very own 1539 herb garden.
1539 was recently awarded the prestigious Best Large Restaurant award at the 2010 Chester Food, Drink & Lifestyle Awards - and also won the Silver award for best use of local produce.
Above the restaurant is Ruinart at The Roof – a totally unique venue sponsored by the oldest champagne house in the world, offering alfresco dining during the summer months. It can also be hired out for private entertaining, birthdays, weddings and special occasions, or simply for a pre or post dinner drink.
