Chester now stages an events programme that is the envy of cities right across the UK.

Our season kicks off at Easter time in April with the taste sensation that is the Chester Food Drink and Lifestyle Festival. Three days that features a Taste of Cheshire at its best with 1000’s of people , and 100’s of Campervans all at Chester racecourse, right in the heart of the city, a truly unique experience.

The May Festival of Racing at the Roodee sees people come from across the UK for their annual pilgrimage to come and see the finest horse racing on display anywhere in the country. With race meetings every month thereafter you are never far from your next hit of high adrenaline equine action.

In June and July our heritage comes alive with the Chestival series of events. Eight weeks of amazing entertainment, featuring the largest gathering of re-enactment Romans anywhere in the world, followed by Chester’s all conquering Giant and Midsummer parade, The Vaudeville weekend, a glimpse of the Chester mystery plays, and the Chester Music Festival

August and September sees the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre. World class plays performed in the open air of the beautiful Grosvenor Park, right in the heart of the city.

As October approaches look out for the Literature Festival as the authors of the UK converge on our city to entertain and challenge our many visitors and again, uniquely to Chester the half term in October sees our Children’s literature Festival – GobbleDEEbook  get under way, thrilling children’s audiences with the delights of the written word.

We then move in to November and December where Chester’s Christmas events simply explode in to the city. Wonderful street market stalls in purpose built timber clad shops that mirror the architectural splendour of the city – no B&Q sheds for us, The winter watch parade, our DEElight weekend, the CES International Winter Challenge Classic Rally, all form part of this years amazing Christmas offer.
